I first visited Detroit in the 1960s, whilst on a travelling scholarship awarded by the Royal College of Art. Known as Motor City it was the home of the USA Automotive Industry, also importantly at the time, the Motown record label. More recently, automotive related design involvements brought me back every year, in January,to see the latest international vehicles displayed at the Car Show -the weather was always terrible!
