RECALLING THE FROST FAIRS

A homage to the Thames Frost Fairs, which took place between 1600 and 1814. Two hundred years ago, the last one lasted for 2 months and the river ice was 5-7 feet thick. A mini city was created with shops, pubs and skating rinks . Parading elephants and bull baiting took place. Tents were made of sail canvas supported by rowing oars.
