The inspiration, the novel '1984', written in 1949 by George Orwell (Eric Blair). Published as a paperback: 'A Signet Classic' by The New American Library, in 1961. A dystopian novel set in 'Air Strip One' (formerly known as Great Britain). A view 40 years into the future, of a world involved in perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance and public manipulation. Many of it's terms and concepts such as Big Brother, doublethink, thoughtcrime, Room 101 and Newspeak have entered everyday use, since it's publication.
